EDCI 232...

Well... it's been a little hectic in my life... BUT I was really pleased with the PowerPoint assignment. It's been a while since I did all the "fancy" extras in a PowerPoint, but I felt it was really helpful and a great tool to use for my future classroom for reviews, notes, etc. I made an art history review for middle school (since I will be certified PreK-12). I am looking forward to using these new skills in the future!

EDCI 232...

I never knew Google had features that were similar to Microsoft Word and Excel, and I think that it is pretty neat knowing I can use my email for something like creating a grade book for my classes. I think it's also neat that you can share your documents with other Google members, and I think it could be useful for updating your student's grades and having your students create a Google account to be aware of their classroom progress.

EDCI 232...

Hello 232 comrades-
After completing Module 4 (the visual learning using Kidspiration or Inspiration), I really enjoyed the program and how neat it was to provide information for students by breaking them down into bubbles and arrows. I did mine on Color for grades 9-12 (I'll be licensed for grades K-12) and I think this will be an awesome program for the classroom, especially as an art teacher. Not only can I break down the complex information about color, but also about the other elements and principles of design, drawing techniques, painting techniques, etc. This will also provide a better understanding for me as a teacher when I have to present information to students, especially when I need to break it down into their specific levels.

Flats, Mineral Spirits, and a Whole 'Lotta Paint...

I suppose I can share my love for the art world by using lots of painterly jargon but then again, how could my fellow EDCI 232 comrades care to not only view my blogs about the class but to have some interest in my personal blogs?
So I guess I can be less technical and a little more expressive explaining my world of art as well as the work that I am working on this semester. Currently I am in Painting II, working on two paintings- both in oils. I am adopted (and have been since birth, so the only parents I know are my adoptive parents) so my goals for this semester is to express my adoption through several stages. Last semester in Painting I, my final piece was a self-portrait looking into the belly of my biological mother. Inside the belly showed my fetal self, and this concept was to express what I have gone through in the past to become the person I am today. Thus resulting in my wants to complete a series revolved around my adoption.
"The first painting I am working on is "Stage I: Night of Conception." This painting is to express my biological mother's promiscuity and the different men she has slept with in the past, as well as the man she slept with to conceive me. There are plenty of more details, but I do not want to ruin your chances of interpreting my piece if I decide to put it in this years Student Art Exhibition. My second painting is one that I started this afternoon, and this is going to be "Stage II: Truth Revealed." Details are not confirmed as I had previously mentioned that I began this painting today.
I hope to have some photos up throughout the semester!
Thanks!

EDCI 232

Hello fellow classmates from EDCI 232-
This blog was originally created for my Drawing II course last spring and then I decided to use this as my personal artist blog because I am an art student (Fine Arts) as well as an Art Education major. So please look for headings titled as "EDCI 232..." so you do not feel confused. Although feel free to browse my past posts and comment on anything, especially my work- It's nice to have outside feedback because it is coming from someone with a different view. So on that note I would like to update my current work as well as blog about this course.
Responding to the past few assignments, I felt that the pageflake assignment was successful as providing another opportunity to present outside material to my students. Because I am going into Art Education, presenting new forms of technology is going to be important and allows a new way for students to understand material better. The Word-processing assignment was pretty successful as well. I felt that I was able to recall a lot of the skills I learned in high school and apply them to my newsletter that was most appropriate for my specific grade level and concentration.
Again- please feel free to comment on anything that has been posted from the past to present!

Shark-bait

It is 9:44 PM, and I am currently watching the magical theatrical production of Finding Nemo... and I am inspired by all the color used throughout the movie... I know the Ashland Art Department seems to disapprove of anything created by Disney/Pixar, but how can one NOT help but to feel some sort of awe?  I mean, the artwork behind it all is magical and the colors- oh, how I love color.  There are so many hues and chroma... I do feel inspired and slightly motivated to create a painting using bright colors, like in Finding Nemo.... except, there will be no clown fish or sharks, or turtles.
